Want a Raise? Have More Sex

The post Want a Raise? Have More Sex appeared first on Ms. Career Girl.

Normally, if you want to increase your income, you'd have to do the things we associate with getting a raise.  Learn more skills.  Show leadership.  Continue your formal and practical education.  Now it seems that there's another way that appears to relate to higher incomes.

According to recent studies, those who have more sex generally earn more money.  And it isn't "the oldest profession" we're talking about.

Sex as a Barometer

It turns out that increased frequency of sexual activity is a good barometer of several things, including:

  • health
  • quality of life
  • well-being
  • happiness

Conversely, those who have no sexual activity not only earn less, but have more illness, a lower quality of life and sense of well-being, and are generally not as happy.

Beyond the Bedroom

In regards to extended benefits of being more sexually active, WebMD identifies the following general health benefits of sex:

1. Helps Keep Your Immune System Humming

“Sexually active people take fewer sick days,” says Yvonne K. Fulbright, PhD a sexual health expert.

2. Boosts Your Libido

Longing for a more lively sex life? “Having sex will make sex better and will improve your libido,” says Lauren Streicher, MD.

3. Improves Women's Bladder Control

A strong pelvic floor is important for avoiding incontinence, something that will affect about 30% of women at some point in their lives.

4. Lowers Your Blood Pressure

Research suggests a link between sex and lower blood pressure, says Joseph J. Pinzone, MD.

He is CEO and medical director of Amai Wellness.

5. Counts as Exercise

“Sex is a really great form of exercise,” Pinzone says. It won’t replace the treadmill, but it counts for something.

6. Lowers Heart Attack Risk

A good sex life is good for your heart.

7. Lessens Pain

“Orgasm can block pain,” says Barry R. Komisaruk, PhD, a distinguished service professor at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey.

8. May Make Prostate Cancer Less Likely

Men who ejaculated frequently (at least 21 times a month) were less likely to get prostate cancer during one study, which was published in the Journal of the American Medical Association.

9. Improves Sleep

“After orgasm, the hormone prolactin is released, which is responsible for the feelings of relaxation and sleepiness" after sex, says Sheenie Ambardar, MD.

10. Eases Stress

Ambardar says touching and hugging can release your body's natural “feel-good hormone.”

And Into the Boardroom

Finally, it's been shown there is a correlation between sexual activity and ambition.  So, you want the bosses job?  Have more sex.

So, does all this mean you ought to have sex six hours every night?  No.  Another old adage is aptly applied:  Balance in all things.  But there's plenty of good reasons for keeping sexual activity to a regular and healthy level.

Tools of The Trade

All that said, we are still humans who like variety.  Too much plain sex would be like having the same meal every day.  Boredom will set in.  So be willing to experiment with your chosen partner.  And in our day and age, there's no need to go to the local sex shop.  It's all online, as you're surely aware.

We do, however, also live in a day and age of political correctness and social consciousness.  How, you say, does sex relate to political correctness and social consciousness?

There's a unique new purveyor of all things sexual.  They are partnering with a host of female-focused charities and non-profit organizations like Planned Parenthood to promote women’s sexual health and wellness.

We’re by far not the first to catch wind of this lovely, sexy startup.  Unbound has garnered press attention from Fortune, BuzzFeed, Mashable, Teen Vogue, Women’s Health and MTV.  To see what all the buzz is about, check  out Unbound at www.unbound.nyc
