Shopping Wisely Online and In Stores

The post Shopping Wisely Online and In Stores appeared first on Ms. Career Girl.

My love of shopping is certainly not my defining characteristic- before I am a shopper, I am an educated professional focused on personal growth and improving the world around me with my actions- but, I do love to shop. Women in the business world are all too aware of the ways they can use fashion and beauty to create a streamlined, attractive, professional and put together appearance. While I don't struggle, looking my best isn't always easy to do without making my wallet cry. Here are some of the smart shopping habits I've picked up to save money when shopping for myself and my home.

Buy Wholesale

By using my powers of search engine mastery wisely, I have found a number of great sites through which to purchase choice clothing items, accessories and beauty products as well as housewares and other necessities. I was amazed at the number of wholesale products that are available via shopping online! You can avoid unnecessary markup on high end products by turning to the web for wholesale jewelry and makeup that otherwise costs an arm and a leg. If you're sick of your jaw dropping every time you hit the cash register, check out wholesale shopping online.

Don't Just Use Coupons - Use Them Wisely!

Whenever I get a great set of coupons for a retailer I love, I get really excited. This is clearly a sign from above that it's time for me to go shopping! While some coupons have a lot of exclusions, be aware of the ones that don't.

Some coupons have discounts that can be stacked on top of existing sales- if you receive a coupon in your email or mailbox that offers a percentage discount on both regular and sale price items, treasure it. You can maximize your savings with that coupon by regularly scanning the ads of that retailer to find out when their sales meet your shopping needs and then rack up discounts that will make the cashier blush. Be sure to read information about expiration dates or exclusions so you're aware of any restrictions.

Stock Up On Non-Perishable Essentials

When your favorite brands of shampoo, conditioner, body wash and other non-perishable household items go on sale, especially when you receive two products for the price of one, consider stocking up. By paying $15 or $20 now for a product that you love, you may be able to score six bottles instead of three for the same price. Tuck them under your bathroom sink and thank yourself profusely later when you run out before a date or trip and have no time left to shop.

Don't Buy It Just Because It's On Sale

Sales are exciting, and can be very tempting, but home economists strongly emphasize the need to avoid spending money just because something has a price reduction. If it's not something you need or already use, give serious thought to whether it's worth your money, even on sale. If it will just take up space or collect dust, forego it in favor of sticking to your shopping budget.
